SJ-O boys’ basketball defeats Maroa-Forsyth

Tanner Jacob sparked the St. Joseph-Ogden boys’ basketball team to a 63-46 victory at home on Saturday (Jan. 13) over Maroa-Forsyth, helping the Spartans snap a two-game losing streak.
Jacob, who bucketed two shots from three-point range, also had three assists and three steals.
Teammates scoring in double figures were Tanner Siems (14 points) and Luke Landrus (13 points). Coy Taylor totaled six points and Logan Smith finished with five points.
Smith produced seven assists and three steals. Taylor collected five assists.
Ryker Lockhart contributed three points, all coming on a three-point basket. Tim Blackburn-Kelley chipped in with two points.
On Tuesday (Jan. 9), SJ-O suffered a 53-40 loss at Teutopolis.
Landrus tossed in a team-high 16 points. Taylor netted 10 points and Smith ended with six points to go with five assists.
Jacob made four points. Finishing with two points apiece were Siems and Collin Thomey.
Jacobs, Landrus and Siems all cleared three rebounds. Landrus also recorded three assists and Siems blocked two shots.
The Spartans (13-4) return to action on Tuesday (Jan. 16) at Prairie Central.
