Chrisman brings Hawks season to end

Addi Hopper scored eight points on Saturday (Feb. 10), but Heritage couldn’t hang onto a fourth-quarter lead and suffered a season-ending loss to Chrisman, 37-26, in the Tri-County Class 1A regional semifinals.
Brooklyn Powell hit six points for the Hawks. Loran Tate scored five points, Gracie Tate tallied here points, Bailey Lubben made two points and Bri Ploense also finished with two points.
Heritage finished with an overall record of 2-28. The Hawks played their varsity schedule with a roster of four freshmen, four juniors and one senior (Gwen Happ).
The freshmen were Brooklyn Hardaway, Hopper, Ploense and Powell.
The juniors were Briyah Hardaway, Lubben, Gracie Tate and Loran Tate.
Five Hawks led the team – or shared the lead – in scoring in at least one game.
Hopper was the leader in 15 games, followed by Powell (10 games), Ploense (three games), Loran Tate (three games) and Gracie Tate (one game).
The team’s top individual scoring performances were 26 points by Hopper and 19 points by Powell. Ploense (10 points) also scored in double figures.
The top scorers for the season were Powell (7.1) and Hopper (7.0).
Hopper (23) connected on the most three-pointers, followed by Ploense (nine).
Powell (79 attempts) was most adept at getting to the free throw line. Hopper (58.8 percent) was the team’s most accurate free throw shooter. She finished the season by hitting 10 of her final 14 shots from the line.
