Timera Blackburn-Kelly Shines in Shutout, Leading St. Joseph-Ogden Softball to Victory in Conference Opener

St. Joseph-Ogden’s softball team won its third game of the season on Saturday (March 23) and Timera Blackburn-Kelly became the third squad member with a pitching victory this season.
Blackburn-Kelly fired a four-hitter, walking one and striking out six as SJ-O opened Illini Prairie Conference play with a 4-0 victory over IVC in Chillicothe.
Addison Frick led the offensive attack, going 3-for-4. Addy Martinie and Emma McKinney each socked a double among their two hits. A.J. Jannusch blasted her first career home run.
On Thursday (March 21), the Spartans dropped Champaign Central, 6-1, at Randy Wolken Field.
Madison Stevens pitched a complete game, walking one batter and fanning three.
Frick and Martinie both finished with three hits. Frick knocked in two runs and Martinie stole two bases. Blackburn-Kelly and Grace Osterbur both contributed two hits.
Blackburn-Kelly stole four bases.
SJ-O (3-1) returns to action on Tuesday (March 26) at home against Kankakee Bishop McNamara.
