After having four consecutive games postponed by inclement weather, Oakwood’s softball team finished the week with games on back-to-back days and a season’s high for runs scored.
On Friday (April 5) the Comets lost at Iroquois West, 5-3, but the team bounced back on Saturday (April 6) with a commanding 19-2 victory at Paxton-Buckley-Loda.
Oakwood players with hits in both games were Gracie Enos, Samantha Dunavan and Gracie Hanner.
Against PBL, Dunavan pounded four hits in five at-bats. She scored three runs and knocked in two.
Enos and Hanner each recorded three-hit games at PBL. For Hanner, the hits extended her batting streak to eight straight games. Both Enos and Hanner scored two runs and drove in two runs.
Bella Bradford produced a two-hit game against PBL. She scored twice and delivered two RBI. Sophia Hart also tallied two runs.
Enos picked up the pitching win. In five innings, she allowed three hits and one walk while compiling a season-high seven strikeouts.
Against Iroquois West, Dunavan, Enos and Hart all cracked two hits. Hanner drove in two runs.
