Oakwood Softball Struggles at Tuscola Tournament Despite Strong Individual Performances

Bella Bradford and Samantha Dunavan had hits in all three games on Saturday (April 13) at the Tuscola Tournament, but the Oakwood softball team went 0-3 for the day.
The Comets lost to Camp Point Central, 9-1, to Tuscola, 8-1, and to Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, 7-6, on a walk-off hit in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Bradford was 4-for-9 for the day with one double. Dunavan was 3-for-9 overall with one double and one RBI.
Against Camp Point, Sophia Hart’s triple drove in Gracie Hanner with the Comets’ lone run. Caydence Vermillion struck out four in three innings, but took the loss.
Against Tuscola, Vermillion knocked in Hart to account for the Oakwood run. Besides Bradford and Dunavan, Hart and Olivia Fegett also had hits.
Vermillion pitched all six innings and suffered the loss. She recorded four strikeouts.
Against A-L/A-H, Enos slammed solo home runs in both the second and fourth innings. She ended the game 3-for-3 with three RBI. Enos also scored three runs.
Jada Finley, Hanner and Vermillion all had two-hit games. Dunavan, Hanner and Brooklyn Myers all drove in runs.
Enos also pitched all 4 2/3 innings. She posted two strikeouts.
Oakwood (3-11) returns to action on Monday (April 15) at Hoopeston Area.
