Hoopeston Area Secures Dramatic Walk-Off Victory Over Oakwood in Conference Clash

Hoopeston Area scored a one-out run in the bottom of the seventh inning on Monday (April 15) to walk off with a 3-2 win over visiting Oakwood in a Vermilion Valley Conference baseball game.
Cort Vermillion drilled two doubles among his three hits for the Comets and notched two RBI.
Derek Drews and Brody Taflinger each finished with one hit. Alec Harrison and Taflinger tallied the Comets’ runs.
Chase Harrison pitched all 6 1/3 innings for Oakwood. He walked one and struck out five batters.
On Tuesday (April 16), the Comets dropped a 15-0 decision at home to St. Joseph-Ogden.
Vermillion had both of the Oakwood hits. Loudyn Hughes pitched the first three innings and suffered the loss. Alex Wallace worked one inning and struck out one hitter.
Oakwood (7-10) returns to action on Thursday (April 18) at Seeger, Ind.
