Oakwood Baseball Extends Win Streak to Five with Dominant and Narrow Road Victories

Oakwood extended its baseball winning streak to five games with back-to-back victories on the road to start the week.

On Tuesday (April 30), the Comets blitzed Iroquois West, 18-5, in Gilman. On Wednesday (May 1), the team recorded a 2-1 win at Armstrong-Potomac.

Against Iroquois West, Derek Drews, Brody Taflinger, Cort Vermillion and Alex Wallace all produced two hits.

Bryson Marcinko knocked in three runs. Delivering two RBI each were Carsen Dudley, Jackson Dudley and Vermillion.

Taflinger tallied four runs. Drews, Vermillion and Alex Wallace all scored three runs. Jackson Dudley and Chase Harrison each crossed home plate twice.

Dustin Hughes pitched four innings and nabbed the win He walked five and struck out four.

Against A-P, Chase Harrison needed last-out help from Alec Harrison to keep the one-run margin intact.

Chase Harrison struck out eight and walked two in 6 2/3 innings. He permitted three hits. Alec Harrison fanned the only batter he faced.

Carsen Dudley and Marcinko drove in the Oakwood runs. Drews and Marcinko scored runs.

The Comets also managed just three hits. They were registered by Drews, Carsen Dudley and Marcinko.

Oakwood (13-13) is 6-3 in Vermilion Valley Conference action. The Comets return to action on Friday (May 3) at Westville.
