Heritage Athletes Secure Top-10 Finishes at Lincoln Prairie Conference Boys’ Track Meet

Five different Heritage athletes collected top-10 finishes on Friday (May 3) in the 12-school Lincoln Prairie Conference boys’ track and field meet at Argenta-Oreana.
Placing in two events was Clark Roland (ninth in the long jump at 18 feet, 4 inches and 10th in the 400 meters in 56.31 seconds).
Other team leaders were Aidan Ashbrook (sixth in the 800 meters in 2:14.31), Eli Denmark-Collins (ninth in the 1,600 meters in a personal-best 5:03.94), Hunter Montgomery (ninth in the 3,200 meters in 12:50.78) and Cohen Sands (ninth in the 800 meters in 2:24.06.
The Hawks’ 3,200-meter relay foursome of Ashbrook, Sands, Roland and Denmark-Collins placed second in 8:47.27.
Team honors were taken home by Sullivan (170 points) with second-place Villa Grove totaling 76 points. Heritage was 10th with nine points.
On Monday (May 6), the Hawks’ 3,200-meter relay team was victorious in the four-school Last Chance Meet at Bismarck-Henning.
Sharing the baton were Ashbrook, Sands, Roland and Denmark-Collins. Their combined time was 8:48.10.
Roland took third in the 400 meters (55.95 seconds) and fourth in the long jump (18 feet, 1 inch).
Also placing among the top five for Heritage were Ashbrook, the runner-up in the 800 meters (2:10.24) and Montgomery, who ran fourth in the 3,200 meters (13:05.11).
Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin won the meet with 66 points. Heritage was fourth with 12 points.
The Hawks return to action on Friday (May 17) in the 17-school Salt Fork Class 1A Sectional at Catlin.
