Morris, Tilson and Fugate represent the Comets at Saber Corn Classic

Three sophomores competed for the Comets in the opening meet on Saturday (Aug. 29), the Saber Corn Classic at St. Thomas More, but Oakwood did not have enough runners to be scored as a team.

Allie Morris was the team leader, handling the 3-mile course in 21 minutes, 21.2 seconds. She placed 15th in a 66-runner field.

Teammates Kalie Tilson (55th in 26:57.0) and Cassie Fugate (62nd in 28:06.3) were the team’s other competitors.

Monticello was the girls’ team champion with a score of 30 points.

Oakwood returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 5) in the Chrisman Cowchip Classic.
