The Spartans needed a tiebreaker on Friday (Sept. 4) to improve to 3-1 for the season in dual meets.
Both SJ-O and Bismarck-Henning ended with composite scores of 202 at Danville’s Harrison Park when their four-player totals were compiled.
SJ-O was declared the winner based on the score of each school’s fifth player. For the Spartans, the difference was Logan Smith’s 53, which was two strokes better than B-H’s fifth player.
Overall, SJ-O teammates Maddux Carter (49), Jacob Kern (50), Ty Pence (51) and Riley Myren (52) secured the second- through fifth-place finishes individually. Carter’s score was a season’s best.
The other SJ-O competitor was Jack Robertson (69).
The Spartans return to action on Tuesday (Sept. 8) against St. Thomas More and Centennial at the Legends course in Champaign.
