Villa Grove cross country celebrates eighth-graders and new course
Villa Grove celebrated its five eighth-graders as well as a new 2-mile course in Camaro on Thursday (Sept. 17) against Tri-County, Okaw Valley and Philo St. Thomas.
The eighth-grade runners were Blake Davis, Lukas Shadwick, Carson Sheppard, Chase White and Kurt Zimmerman.
Shadwick and Zimmerman were two of the five medalists in the boys’ race.
Shadwick was timed in 11 minutes and 24 seconds in the 2-mile race and finished second. Zimmerman was clocked in 11:37 and placed third.
The team’s other participants were: Jackson Gilles (sixth in 12:41), Chase White (10th in 13:30), Nolan Shadwick (tied for 12th in 13:52), Tucker McGarigle (17th in 14:47), Logan Hauersperger (19th in 15:25), Jacob Golightly (20th in 15:29), Maddox Piercy (21st in 15:49), Kendrick Roy (22nd in 17:00), Blake Davis (26th in 17:54), Carson Sheppard (27th in 23:27), Landyn Gaston (28th in 23:42), Max Wilson (29th in 24:15) and Henry Osborne (30th in 25:58).
Villa Grove Girls’ Cross-Country
The Blue Devils didn’t have enough runners to be scored as a team in a Thursday (Sept. 17) meet at Camargo against Tri-County, Okaw Valley and Philo St. Thomas.
One Villa Grove participant, Eva Piercy, earned a medal for her fourth-place finish. Her 2-mile time was 15 minutes and 35 seconds.
The team’s other finishers were Lyndsay Zoch (sixth in 16:09) and Lilly-Lynn Davis (ninth in 17:11).
