Young Spartan golf team places fifth at Illini Prairie Conference Tournament

With a lineup of five sophomores and one freshman, SJ-O placed eighth on Tuesday (Sept. 22) in the nine-school Illini Prairie Conference Boys’ Golf Tournament at the University of Illinois Blue Course in Savoy.
The team leader was sophomore Maddux Carter (93), who tied for 15th. Another sophomore, Ty Pence, fired a 97 and tied for 28th.
Other Spartan participants were: McGuire Atwood (104), Logan Smith (105), Jacob Kern (112) and Jack Robertson (132).
Prairie Central captured team honors with a combined score of 331. Runner-up Pontiac had a total of 356. SJ-O’s final team score was 399.
SJ-O will return to action on Monday (Sept. 28).
