Lilli Montgomery was the team-leader for Villa Grove/Heritage on Tuesday (Sept. 22) in a four-school girls’ cross-country race at Dodds Park, in Champaign.
She finished in 17th overall with a 3-mile time of 22 minutes and 40 seconds.
Meet champion Urbana Uni High had a team score of 20 and was followed by Mahomet-Seymour (35), Tuscola (94) and VG/Heritage (101).
Other participants for the Blue Devils were Emma Buesing (29th in 25:45), Madison Logan (30th in 26:27), Hailey Stutz (32nd in 26:39) and Kyleigh Price (34th in 26:56).
On Monday (Sept. 21), Montgomery posted her personal-best time while taking the individual win at Oakland.
She completed the 3-mile course in 21 minutes and 27 seconds.
VG/Heritage coach Jim Kestner said he was “excited to see freshman Lilli Montgomery break out to a season PR at Oakland on the toughest course we have faced all year.”
The Blue Devils’ other runners all secured spots among the top seven individually.
Buesing was fourth in 25:10. Price was fifth in 26:29. Logan was sixth in 26:32 and Stutz was seventh in 26:46.
VG/Heritage returns to action on Saturday (Oct. 3) at the Lincoln Prairie Conference meet.
