Prairieview Ogden was victorious on Thursday (Oct. 21) in both the seventh-grade and eighth-grade girls’ basketball games at home against Villa Grove.

The seventh-graders posted a 26-10 win. Emerson Williams tallied eight points and Bella Frerichs hit for seven points.

The eighth-graders took control with a 20-point third quarter and subdued Villa Grove, 38-7.

Taylor Maddock led the way with eight points. Adding seven points apiece were Caroline Aden and Hadley Sweet.

The PVO seventh-graders have a 2-6 season record. The eighth-graders are 4-4.

The Mustangs return to action on Thursday (Oct. 28) at Rossville.

The winning streak for the PVO eighth-grade girls’ basketball team was halted at three last week.

On Monday (April 12), St. Matthew captured a 37-11 win in Champaign. Aubrey Bott scored six points. Caroline Aden and Mackenzie Loschen each added two points.

On Wednesday (April 14), a furious second-half rally fell short and PVO dropped a 27-25 decision to Rossville-Alvin in Flatville.

R-A le 21-8 at halftime, but was outscored 17-6 thereafter. Bott and Ally Schmitz each scored six points.

PVO (4-5) returns to action on Wednesday (April 21) at home against Westville.

The Prairieview Ogden seventh-grade girls’ basketball team extended its winning streak to five games with two more victories last week.

PVO won at Champaign St. Matthew, 30-10, on Monday (April 12). Ally Schmitz scored eight points and Emma McKinney contributed six points.

On Wednesday (April 14), PVO overpowered Rossville-Alvin, 33-11, in Flatville. Caroline Aden scored a game-high 12 points. Schmitz added six points.

PVO (7-2) returns to action on Wednesday (April 21) at home against Westville.

PVO had different double-figure scorers last week as the eighth-grade girls’ basketball team posted back-to-back victories.

Hayley Hesterberg tallied a game-high 11 points on Monday (April 5) as the Mustangs defeated Oakwood 33-16. Lyla Frerichs chipped in with six points.

On Wednesday (April 7), PVO enjoyed its highest scoring  game of the spring, winning at Potomac-Armstrong 43-24. Caroline Aden netted a season-high 13 points. Ally Schmitz registered 12 points.

PVO (4-3) returns to action on Wednesday (April 14) at Flatville against Rossville-Alvin.

In a 33-23 loss at Schlarman on Wednesday (March 31), Aubrey Bott and Hayley Hesterberg each netted seven points.

Prairieview Ogden followed up on a 28-18 loss on Wednesday (March 31) at Schlarman with a 24-7 triumph at home on Thursday (April 1) against Heritage.

Ally Schmitz hit a team-high 10 points at Schlarman. Allison Ochs added six points.

Caroline Aden matched her season’s high with 12 points against Heritage. Emma McKinney contributed six points.

The Prairieview Ogden eighth-grade boys’ basketball team raised its winning streak to five games before suffering a season-ending loss.

PVO won at Westville on Thursday (Feb. 25). 56-29.

Coy Taylor hit a team-high 19 points. James Huisinga contributed 15 points. Parker Fitch ended with six points. Adding five points apiece were Tayton Gerdes and Teigan Hays.

Taylor rippled the nets for 30 points in a 49-42 win in the team’s home finale, Monday (March 1) against Rantoul St. Malachy. Huisinga netted 12 points. Logan Lackey had five points and Fitch scored the other two.

The winning streak ended on Thursday (March 4) at St. Joseph, in a 44-39 loss.

Taylor led the way with 20 points. Kodey McKinney checked in with six points and Huisinga chipped in with five.

Finishing with two points apiece were Fitch, Gerdes, Brodie Harms and Lackey.

The eighth-grade team concludes play with a 6-2 overall record.

Taylor led the team in scoring in seven games. Fitch was the leader in one game.

The Prairieview Ogden seventh-grade boys’ basketball team wrapped up its season by winning four of its final five games.

A 41-19 victory at Westville on Thursday (Feb.25) was PVO’s third win in a row.

Kodey McKinney hit a team-high 11 points, followed closely by Coy Hayes with 10 points.

Parker Fitch totaled seven points, Kaden Wedig had five, Garrett Loschen had four and Dalton York added three points. 

On Monday (March 1), PVO won its home finale, 54-6 over Rantoul St. Malachy.

Fitch set the pace with 16 points. Graham Ray posted 12 points. Vance McComas had eight points and Hayes ended with seven.

It took two overtimes for the season-finale to be settled and it ended with St. Joseph topping PVO 49-44 in St. Joseph.

Fitch tossed in a game-high 25 points. Hayes had 10 points. McKinney registered seven points and Ray chipped in with two.

The seventh-grade team ended its year with an overall record of 6-2.

Five different players led, or shared, the team-lead in scoring this season.

Hayes was the leader in five games. Fitch and McKinney each led in two games. Loschen and Ray set the pace in one game apiece.

The PVO seventh-and eighth-grade boys’ basketball teams have each won two of their first three games of the season.

The seventh-graders opened with resounding wins over Armstrong-Potomac at home on Wednesday (Feb. 3) 43-3, and at Champaign St. Matthew on Monday (Feb 8) 49-9 before being edged by Schlarman Academy in Flatville on Thursday (Feb. 11) 38-35.

Coy Hayes has led – or shared – the team lead in scoring in each game. He had seven points against Armstrong-Potomac as did teammates Garrett Loschen and Graham Ray.

Seven players scored at least three points in the opener.

Against St. Matthew, Hayes was the top point-maker with 16. Ray tallied 10 points and Parker Fitch ended with eight points.

Eight PVO players reached the scoring column in the game.

Against Schlarman, Hayes hit 14 points, Fitch contributed 11 and Kodey McKinney chipped in with eight points.

Through three games, Hayes has 37 points, Fitch has 24, Ray 19, McKinney 16, Loschen 12, Vance McComas 7, Kaden Wedig 6, Adam Marschke 2, Donovan Taylor 2 and Dalton York 2.

The eighth-graders topped Armstrong-Potomac to start the season on Wednesday (Feb. 3) 51-20 before being outscored 69-58 on Monday (Feb. 8) at Champaign St. Matthew. The team returned to its winning ways at home on Thursday (Feb. 11) by edging Schlarman Academy 33-31 at home.

For the eighth-graders, Coy Taylor was the top scorer in each of the first three games, starting with a 20-point performance against Armstrong-Potomac.

Logan Lackey scored 12 points in the opener.

Taylor followed up with a 29-point outburst against St. Matthew. Parker Fitch added eight points.

Taylor tallied 18 points against Schlarman, followed by Fitch with six points.

Through three games, eight players have hit the scoring column for the eighth-graders.

Taylor leads with 67 points, followed by Lackey (22), James Huisinga (17), Fitch (16), Kodey McKinney (9), Coy Hayes (7), Tayton Gerdes (2) and Teigan Hayes (2).

PVO returns to action on Monday (Feb. 22) against Oakwood in Newtown.
