The Blue Devils placed 10^th in the 12-school Charleston Class 1A girls’ golf regional on Wednesday (Oct. 7).

Team champion Charleston (377) and Paris (392) reserved berths in next week’s Rochester Sectional by virtue of their top two finishes.

VG/Heritage had a team composite of 491.

Besides the team leaders, the top four individuals not on advancing teams will also compete at the Rochester Sectional on Thursday (Oct. 15).

It took a 105, or lower, to advance individually.

Maci Clodfelder was the VG/Heritage leader, with a 114. She tied for 27^th in a field with 71 competitors.

The Blue Devils’ other participants were: Kyleigh Block (125), Addisyn Wilson (125), Logan Lillard (127), Zoey Thompson-Burton (141) and Alison Pangburn (144).

Zach Buesing qualified for the sectional after shooting an 84 on Tuesday (Oct. 6) in the Central A&M Class 1A boys’ golf regional at the Moweaqua Golf Course.

The sectional will be held on Tuesday (Oct. 13) at Ironwood, in Tuscola.

Buesing tied for 10^th overall.

The Blue Devils’ other scorers were: Jake Gilles (100), Nicholas Wilson (103), Liam Barr (105), Noah Davison (106) and Jalen Southard (117).

Regional champion Sullivan (330) and runner-up Monticello (334) qualified their entire teams for the sectional.

VG/Heritage tied for eighth in the 11-team field with a 398 composite.

The top four individuals not on those teams, including Buesing, also moved on.

Kyleigh Block shot a team-best 58 on Tuesday (Sept. 29) in a meet against Salt Fork and Schlarman Academy at Wolf Creek. Block placed second individually.

VG/Heritage totaled a 246 composite. Neither Salt Fork nor Schlarman Academy had enough players to be scored as a team.

Other Blue Devil competitors were: Maci Clodfelder (61), Ava Vollmer (63), Addisyn Wilson (64), Logan Lillard (65) and Allison Pangburn (72).

Three Blue Devils matched or achieved their best score of the season on Thursday (Sept. 17) in a meet at Tri-City Country Club against St. Joseph-Ogden, which did not have enough players to be scored as a team.

The VG/Heritage leaders were Kyleigh Block and Logan Lillard, each firing 58s. Lillard’s tally was her best of the season. Block and Lillard ended in a tie for second place individually.

Maci Clodfelder carded her top score, 59.

The team’s other participants were: Addisyn Wilson (62), Alison Pangburn (65), Ava Vollmer (65) and Zoey Thompson-Burton (70). Vollmer matched her best score of the season.

The Blue Devils return to action on Monday (Sept. 28) at Blue Ridge, in Farmer City.

The Blue Devils finished third in the team race. Meet champion Effingham St. Anthony had 182, followed by Tuscola (198) and VG/Heritage (244).
