After a week off from games, Heritage’s eighth-grade girls’ basketball team opened IESA regional play on Tuesday with a 25-20 victory over Philo St. Thomas.

St. Thomas was the No. 2 seed in the Class 1A regional. Heritage was the No. 3 seed.

Leah Black led Heritage with 10 points.

Heritage (7-10) returns to action tonight against top-seeded Shiloh in a 6 p.m. regional championship game at Shiloh High School.

Heritage started this week with back-to-back overtime losses on successive nights.

On Monday, Villa Grove nipped Heritage 33-29. Leah Black scored 14 points for Heritage. Bella Crafton led Villa Grove with nine points.

On Tuesday, Prairieview Ogden dealt Heritage a 26-22 loss in the regular-season finale.

Black led Heritage (6-10) with 16 points. PVO was led by Amaya Gala and Ellie Ward, with seven points apiece.
