Kayln Cordes distributed 21 assists on Thursday (Sept. 9), but Villa Grove dropped its second three-set loss of the season, losing at Argenta-Oreana, 23-25, 25-20, 25-21.

Maci Clodfelder landed seven kills and Logan Lillard had six kills.

The Blue Devils (3-5) return to action on Monday (Sept. 13) at Salt Fork.

Maci Clodfelder and Vanessa Wright each registered four kills on Tuesday (Aug. 31), but Villa Grove dropped a 25-21, 25-16 volleyball decision at Tuscola.

Ava Vollmer added three kills for the Blue Devils.

On Monday (Aug. 30), Kayln Cordes handed out 17 assists as Villa Grove handled Casey-Westfield in a two-set sweep, 25-17, 25-22.

The offensive attack was spearheaded by Clodfelder (seven kills), Wright (six kills) and Logan Lillard (four kills).

The Blue Devils (3-3) return to action on Thursday (Sept. 2) at Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin.

Villa Grove opened its volleyball season on Thursday (Aug. 26) and rallied for a win at Georgetown-Ridge Farm, 23-25, 25-9, 25-12.

Sophomore Kayln Cordes collected 18 assists. Maci Clodfelder (eight kills) and Vanessa Wright (seven kills) led the offense. Clodfelder and Wright each finished with two blocks.

On Saturday (Aug. 28), the Blue Devils compiled a 1-2 record in the Blue Ridge Invitational.

After losing to Judah Christian 25-6, 25-9, VG topped Urbana Uni High 25-7, 25-13. In its final tourney match, VG dropped a 25-18, 21-25, 15-11 decision to Hoopeston Area.

Against Judah, Cordes had nine assists and Ava Vollmer delivered five kills. Against Uni High, Molly Little totaled five kills. Against Hoopeston Area, Wright landed eight kills and Clodfelder ended with seven.

Villa Grove (2-2) returns to action on Tuesday (Aug. 31) at Tuscola.

Samantha Campbell scored nine first-quarter points on Monday, staking the Blue Devils to an early 19-11 lead in a game they won at Cerro Gordo 67-41.

Aliya Holloman hit a team-high 28 points. Campbell put up 15 points, just shy of her season-high of 16.

Madie Burwell contributed 10 points and Jordyn Ray ended with eight points.

On Tuesday, the Blue Devils carved a 66-5 lead after three quarters at home en route to a non-conference home win over Chrisman, 80-20.

The point total was a season-high for VG/H. The win was the fifth in a row for the Blue Devils.

Holloman scored 17 first-quarter points, helping the team to a 37-point outburst during the opening eight minutes. Campbell and Kyleigh Block each netted eight points in the first quarter.

On the night she was honored for reaching the 1,000-point mark (which occurred in December), Block ended with 13 points.  Campbell tallied 10 points as did Vanessa Wright. Maci Clodfelder added eight points.

VG/H is 16-3 overall and returns to action tonight at Tri-County.
