Salt Fork handed Oakwood a 29-27, 25-18 loss on Monday (Oct. 18) in the fifth-place match of the Vermilion County Tournament at Georgetown.

Madison Doan led the Comets with six kills. Luci Morris totaled four blocks and Karsen Rupp handed out 16 assists.

On Tuesday (Oct. 19), the  Comets swept Schlarman Academy, 25-10, 25-9 with Rupp serving five aces and  Morris landing four aces.

Spearheading the offensive attack were Morris (six kills), Doan (five kills) and Nikita Taylor (five kills).

Rupp distributed a team-high 13 assists.

Oakwood (4-17) returns to action on Thursday (Oct. 21) at Rantoul.

Oakwood lost twice on Saturday in the Vermilion County Volleyball Tournament at Georgetown.

The Comets fell to Armstrong-Potomac (25-14, 25-18) and to Westville (25-17, 25-22).

Josey Clem had four kills against A-P. Natalie Garrison had two service aces and Karsen Rupp distributed 11 assists.

Against Westville, Nikita Taylor landed six kills and Rupp ended with 14 assists.

On Thursday (Oct. 14), Madison Doan and Taylor formed a potent offensive force on Thursday in Oakwood’s loss at Salt Fork.

Doan landed 11 kills and Taylor dropped eight, but the Comets lost a 25-22, 20-25, 25-18 decision.

Rupp amassed 22 assists.

Oakwood (3-16) returns to action on Monday (Oct. 18) against Salt Fork (13-11) in the fifth-place match of the Vermilion County Tournament.

The Comets dropped two road matches last week in volleyball.

Oakwood fell to Cissna Park, 25-16, 25-18 on Tuesday (Oct. 5) and to Westville on Thursday (Oct. 7), 25-18, 25-12.

Sophomores Luci Morris and Nikita Taylor collected four kills apiece at Westville with Karsen Rupp handing out 12 assists.

At Cissna Park, Madison Doan had five kills and Morris finished with four kills. Rupp registered 11 assists.

Oakwood (2-13) returns to action on Tuesday (Oct. 12) at home against Iroquois West.

Nikita Taylor had a team-high five kills, followed by Madison Doan with four kills and Luci Morris with three kills.

On Tuesday (Oct. 5), the Comets dropped a 25-16, 25-18 decision at Cissna Park (16-8-1).

Oakwood suffered volleyball losses to Chrisman, Paxton-Buckley-Loda and Milford in a six-day span.

Chrisman topped the Comets 25-16, 25-14 on Thursday (Sept. 23) in Fithian. Karsen Rupp handed out 13 assists.

Madison Doan swatted four kills. Nikita Taylor and Natalie Garrison each contributed three kills.

On Monday (Sept. 27), PBL overpowered the visiting Comets, 25-18, 25-7. Luci Morris registered three blocks and two kills. Doan finished with three kills and two aces.

On Tuesday (Sept. 28), Milford scored a two-set sweep at Oakwood, 25-16, 25-15. Taylor delivered five kills. Doan slapped three kills and Morris collected two blocks.

The Comets (1-10) return to action on Thursday (Sept. 30) at Georgetown-Ridge Farm.
