Comets come back to defeat Danville softball

Gracie Hanner drove three hits and knocked in two runs on Tuesday (April 11) as the Oakwood softball team rebounded from an early deficit to defeat Danville, 10-5.
A three-run third inning lifted the Comets into the lead for good, 5-3.
Cracking two hits apiece for Oakwood were Bella Bradford, Samantha Dunavan, Olivia Fegett, Lacey Harrison and Sophia Hart. Dunavan also delivered two RBI.
Reliever Gracie Enos pitched 4 1/3 innings of three-hit ball and picked up the win. She struck out one batter as did starter Rylee Wright, who worked 2 2/3 innings.
On Monday (April 10), the Comets lost to Watseka, 8-6, allowing the final three runs in the sixth inning.
Dunavan socked a home run. She ended with two hits. Karleigh Nelson led the Comets with three hits and two RBI.
Enos fanned three batters in 4 2/3 innings of relief and suffered the loss. Caydence Vermillion recorded five strikeouts in the first 2 2/3 innings.
Oakwood (5-8) returns to action on Friday (April 14) at Milford.
