St. Joseph-Ogden Softball Secures 6-3 Win at Tuscola, Continues Strong Season Performance

Hayden Dahl collected three hits, Grace Osterbur totaled two hits and Ellie Ward drove in two runs on Monday (May 6) as the St. Joseph-Ogden softball team prevailed at Tuscola, 6-3.

Adelyn Jannusch and Emma McKinney both drove in runs for the Spartans.

Amelia Huckstadt allowed six hits in her six-inning stint. She walked two batters and struck out five. Timera Blackburn-Kelly threw the final inning and recorded a save.

On Saturday (May 4), Addy Martinie and Dahl recorded hits in both games as SJ-O won its own invitational tournament.

The Spartans topped Meridian, 12-2, and Marshall, 8-5.

Dahl was 4-for-7 with five RBI for the day. Martinie was 3-for-5 with four RBI. For the two games, Addison Frick scored five runs.

Dahl has six straight games – and eight of her last nine games – with at least two hits. Martinie has 28 RBI in her last 11 games.

In the first game, Chloe Harper contributed two hits and two RBI. Halle Brazelton knocked in three runs and Osterbur tallied three runs.

In the second game, Osterbur scored twice and knocked two hits.

Blackburn-Kelly tossed a three-hitter against Meridian. She walked three and struck out 11 batters.

In the second game, Madison Stevens threw the first five innings, walking no one and fanning one batter. Huckstadt worked the last two innings and registered two strikeouts while walking no one.

On Thursday (May 2), Stevens tossed a five-hit shutout as the St. Joseph-Ogden softball team posted a 2-0 Illini Prairie Conference win at Tolono Unity.

Stevens walked two and struck out four. She hasn’t yielded a run in her last three outings, covering 15 1/3 innings.

She was backed offensively by a solo home from from McKinney. Frick collected three hits and tallied the team’s other run.

Martinie and Dahl both knocked two hits. Brazelton had the other SJ-O RBI. Harper also had a hit.

SJ-O (25-6 overall) is 7-1 in conference play. The Spartans return to action on Tuesday (May 7) at home against Danville.
