Hughes Leads Oakwood to Victory Over Covington, Comets Win 7 of Last 8

Dustin Hughes pitched Oakwood to a 7-4 victory at home on Tuesday (May 7) against Covington, Ind.
In seven innings, Hughes (3-2) struck out three and issued two walks. He also had an RBI.
The Comets’ five-hit attack was paced by Cort Vermillion and Bryson Marcinko, each of whom laced two hits. Derek Drews had the team’s other hit.
Both of Marcinko’s hits were doubles, marking the fourth consecutive game he had at least one extra-base hit.
Brody Taflinger stole two bases and knocked in two runs, both on sacrifice flies. He tallied one run as did Drews, Marcinko, Jackson Dudley and Alex Wallace.
Alec Harrison scored two runs.
Oakwood (15-14) has won seven of its last eight games and returns to action on Monday (May 13) at home against Heyworth.
