St. Joseph-Ogden Senior Spotlight: Andrew Calton, Brendan Cooperider, Logan Lindsey and Hannah Dukeman

Andrew Calton

Art Club

Andrew lives in St. Joseph with his family. He has four sisters and two brothers. His main hobby is working. Andrew enjoys babysitting, house sitting, working at a daycare, and working at Monical’s Pizza. Andrew’s greatest memory at SJO happened his junior year during the Homecoming assembly when the SJO chorus was singing, and all of the lights were turned off as the entire crowd got into the chorus’ performance. This was an inspiring moment for Andrew. After high school, Andrew will attend Western Illinois University to study criminal justice. His advice for future SJO students is to try your best, and do not slack off. His favorite classes at SJO were Art, Physical Science, and Algebra I. Throughout the years, Andrew’s favorite teachers include Mr. Miller and Mrs. Mabry at St. Joseph Middle School and Mr. Glazier and Mr. Beccue at St. Joseph-Ogden High School. Congrats to Andrew on all of his accomplishments and best of luck to him in the future.  

Brendan Cooperider

Football (4 years), Baseball (4 years), Student Council, Spanish Club, NHS, Maroon Platoon

Brendan lives with his family in St. Joseph. His hobbies include weightlifting and learning about cars. Brendan’s greatest memories at SJO revolve around the baseball team, which he enjoyed being a part of for all four years. One memory that stood out was the SJO Invite in May 2019, a round robin tourney hosted at SJO each year. After high school, Brendan is going to become a Hawkeye. He will attend the University of Iowa and will study mechanical engineering. He also wants to become a part of the Formula SAE race team. His advice for future SJO students is to learn time management skills early on. His favorite classes at SJO were U.S. History and Civics. Throughout his years of schooling, Brendan’s favorite teachers include Mr. Risley, Mr. Steele, and Mrs. Ford at St. Joseph Middle School and Mr. Duval and Mr. Schacht at St. Joseph-Ogden High School. Congrats to Brendan on all of his accomplishments and best of luck to him in the future.  

Logan Lindsey

Football (3 years), Track and Field (2 years), Wrestling (1 year), Drama Club, Maroon Platoon

Logan lives in St. Joseph with his family. He has one older sister and one younger brother. His hobbies are writing and building his own computers. Logan’s greatest memories at SJO include hanging out with his friends at lunch time and being around his friends playing sports. Logan developed a strong bond with his friends through athletics. After high school, Logan will attend Parkland College to study computer programming. His advice for future SJO students is to pay attention and to get your homework done. Logan’s favorite classes at SJO were all of his math classes and science with Mr. Simondsen. Throughout his years of schooling, Logan’s favorite teachers include Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Camp at St. Joseph Grade School; Mr. Risley and Mrs. Stone at St. Joseph Middle School; and Mr. Simondsen, Mrs. Downs, Mrs. Franzen, and all of his math teachers at St. Joseph-Ogden High School. Congrats to Logan on all of his accomplishments and best of luck to him in the future.  

Hannah Dukeman

Softball (4 years), Basketball (4 years), Volleyball (1 year), Maroon Platoon, Maroon Platoon Leader, Spanish Club, We The People, AMP, Student Council, Office Helper, SADA, Future Spartans Mentoring Program

Hannah lives in St. Joseph with her family. She has one older sister. Her hobbies include working out, strengthening her wrist, reading, and family game nights. Hannah has a lot of great memories at SJO. During her freshman year, the SJO softball team went to the IHSA State Softball Tournament, and that experience is something Hannah will never forget. Also, during her junior year, the SJO girls’ basketball team earned a 3rd place IHSA State Trophy, and this is also a moment that Hannah really enjoyed. After high school, Hannah will become a Cardinal, as she will attend Ball State University. She is going to play softball there and major in pre-med/biology. Hannah wants to become a pediatric oncologist. Her advice for future SJO students is to realize how important your time is in high school before it is gone. She knows that times can be scary as a freshman, but time flies, so enjoy every moment. Hannah has many favorite classes at SJO. She feels that the SJO teachers have made it fun, and there is not a class that she did not like. Throughout her years of schooling, Hannah has never had a teacher that she did not like. Hannah will always remember having Mrs. Dunn at St. Joseph Grade School, Mrs. Stone at St. Joseph Middle School, and Mr. Schacht at St. Joseph-Ogden High School. Congrats to Hannah on all of her accomplishments and best of luck to her in the future.
