Spartans pick up Illini Prairie Conference win

The Spartans hit seven three-point shots on Monday (Feb. 22) – with four players nailing long-range attempts – and turned back Pontiac 60-45 in an Illini Prairie Conference game at Pontiac.

Ella Armstrong led SJ-O with 11 points. She was 4-for-4 from the free throw line and has netted 11 consecutive free throws.

Payton Jacob and Peyton Jones each added nine points. Jones made all three of her three-pointers in the third quarter as the Spartans extended a 27-20 halftime lead into a 47-33 margin entering the final stanza.

Ashlynn Lannert and Taylor Wells both scored eight points. Atleigh Hamilton contributed seven for SJ-O.

The Spartans (5-1) return to action on Thursday (Feb. 25) at home against Prairie Central.
