Heritage School District Announces New Superintendent, Kim Norton

The Heritage School District has announced its new superintendent, Kim Norton, marking a significant leadership transition slated for July 1, 2024. Norton will replace Tom Davis as he retires.

Norton has served as the Assistant Superintendent in Urbana since 2019. Her  journey in educational leadership is marked by a series of progressive roles that showcase her dedication and commitment to fostering academic excellence. Prior to her tenure in Urbana, where she was a part of Jennifer Ivory-Tatum’s administrative team, Norton held the position of principal at Danville High School from 2015 to 2019. Her transition to the superintendent role at Heritage represents a significant step forward in her career, allowing her to apply her extensive experience and innovative strategies at a district-wide level.

This appointment is the culmination of what the district describes as an “extensive” search orchestrated through the Illinois Association of School Boards.

The Heritage School District educates around 380 students on the southeast side of Champaign County. As Norton prepares to assume her new responsibilities this coming July, the focus will undoubtedly be on ensuring a smooth transition and setting the stage for continued growth and success within the Heritage School District.
