Oakwood Shines at Georgetown-Ridge Farm Meet: Taylor Leads with Two Wins, Teammates Also Score Top Finishes

Nikita Taylor was victorious in two individual events and Oakwood teammates Amber Betzwiser, Aubri Elliott and Quinn Sperry all won one event on Monday (April 15) in a four-school girls’ track and field meet at Georgetown-Ridge Farm.

Taylor was triumphant in the 400 meters (personal-best 1:04.4) and the long jump (15 feet, 7 inches).

Betzwiser prevailed in the 800 meters (personal-best 3:04.0). Elliott won the 100-meter hurdles (20.6 seconds) and Quinn Sperry was first in the shot put (28 feet, 9 inches).

The Comets produced four other personal-bests, including two by Rylee Wright, who was third in the 100-meter hurdles (21.9 seconds) and 13th in the 100-meter dash  (15.5 seconds).

Elliott  took third in the 200 meters (28.5 seconds) and Emma Koontz was third in the shot put (23 feet).

Blue Ridge won the meet with 175 points. The runner-up Comets totaled 121 points.

Oakwood will return to action on Thursday (April 18) at Westville.
