Cafarelli and Kern place in Top 10 at Illini Prairie Conference Golf Tournament

Junior Ashten Cafarelli and senior Jacob Kern secured top-10 finishes on Tuesday (Sept. 20) in the boys’ Illini Prairie Conference Golf Tournament at Willow Pond, in Rantoul.
Cafarelli placed fifth after firing a 77. Kern ended in 10th place with an 81.
Other SJ-O scores were: Maddux Carter (87), McGwire Atwood (88), Jack Robertson (105) and James Huisinga (106).
In the team chase, SJ-O finished third with a composite of 333. The Spartans trailed Monticello (317) and Rantoul/Paxton-Buckley-Loda (332) in the eight-team event.
The Spartans (9-3) return to action on Monday (Sept. 26) in a match at Lincolnshire Fields Country Club, in Champaign.
